Strategic communications highlight Triton Submarines’ commitment to safety and certification

December 13, 2024

In the wake of OceanGate’s Titan implosion, the submersible industry was challenged to demonstrate that this vessel was an outlier, and that certified, accredited submersibles from reputable manufacturers have held an enviable and unblemished safety record for more than 50 years.  Our work for Triton Submarines in 2024 was critical in sharing that message, reinforcing not just the rigorous safety standards and testing that every one of Triton’s subs undergoes, but the innovation and technology that continues to put the manufacturer at the forefront.

In November 2023, we had the opportunity to invite several journalists to the Bahamas, where they completed a dive in a Triton 3300/3.  This firsthand experience was transformative to their understanding of the industry and resulted in substantial feature print and online articles in The Guardian and BOAT International in 2024, each with a heavy focus on safety and certification.  A six-page spread in WSJ Magazine in June addressed the subject, with the writer visiting the Triton manufacturing facility in Sebastian, Fla., and taking a dive in Triton’s first-of-its-kind nine-seater AVA sub.

The delivery of the AVA sub to Scenic Luxury Cruises took the spotlight in Fast Company, New Atlas, Fox News, and many other outlets, each showcasing its innovative shape and ease of ingress and egress.  The year was capped off with a half hour special on PBS’s science show, NOVA.  The episode, titled Reach It!, brought viewers along on a dive in the AVA and behind the scenes as Triton constructed this groundbreaking sub.
